See also Everloop. Think Facebook for kids, this new service, which we did not yet test, bills itself as a "supervised social networking site for kids ages 8 to 14." The idea is to create a secure environment where kids can safely begin to explore the social aspects of the Internet while creating and exchanging information with their friends and family members. They can create blogs that are personalized with their own images, uploading graphics or music files; and exchanging messages with their friends. Each member or parent of a member is validated by credit card registration. Content will also be kept behind behind a firewall that cannot be accessed by Internet search engines or unauthorized users. Parent controls include the ability to control which files are uploaded or downloaded, what is posted on a blog, and what messages are received. Features are free for registered users, including the ability for any member to create a personal user name and persona, exchange messages with other members while having the ability to comment on a subscribing member's blog or photo album. To create content, a subscription is required, at a cost of $4 per month, a price that includes two children and one adult. The first three months are free. Industrious Kid is headquartered in Emeryville, CA.
