FASTT Math

FASTT stands for Fluency and Automaticity through Systematic Teaching with Technology, and it is designed to help struggling students in grades 2-12 with math facts through targeted skill practice in all four operations. The idea is that students spend only ten minutes per day using the software, which continually adjusts to the child's performance. New facts are interspersed with known facts in the practice sessions. According to the press materials, this expanded recall methodology has been proven effective in helping students move facts from working to long-term memory. Features include student, class, grade and school-level reporting, plus customizable and printable worksheets. A pretest assesses students’ typing skills and takes those into account when measuring progress. This initial test is tedious, but once students are past it, the program does provide targeted skill practice in an effective manner. Like old-fashioned flashcards, this straightforward drill and practice program will work.
